WE WANT YOU FOR THE 2024 FLORIDA STATE THESPIANS ALL-STATE OPENING NUMBER!
We are accepting submissions beginning November 1, 2023 for an all-state opening number to be performed at the Opening Ceremonies of this year’s Florida State Thespian Festival on the stage of Morsani Hall at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts. The number will be choreographed by Brian Curl and musically directed by Tim Hanes. The deadline for submissions will be January 25, 2024.
- Applicants must intend to attend and be a registered delegate of the Florida State Thespian Festival.
- Selected performers will need to be available to rehearse beginning the morning of Wednesday, March 13, 2024 and be available to perform at all opening ceremonies performances scheduled on that day..
- Applicants must submit the digital application and required submission videos (a dance audition–combination provided on the State website and linked below–and no more than one minute of a musical theatre selection, showing range and dramatic ability).
A SPECIAL NOTE ON HOW TO FILM YOUR AUDITION VIDEO: When filming the dance combination, please make sure your full body is seen. When filming your singing audition, please zoom in to the upper half of your body so that we can clearly see your face. In both cases, if you choose to film on your phone, please film horizontally. Please be aware that the audition combination with Mr. Curl is MIRRORING YOU! When he mentions “right” and “left,” he is referring to YOUR right and YOUR left.
