The mission of the Jacksonville University theatre program is to offer a premier education in the creation and performance of live theatre production and to foster positive cultural contributions as theatre educators, professionals, and graduate students.
Students in the program experience the benefit of both traditional class study and practical experience. The department produces a variety of theatrical works each year to foster the creative exploration of each artist’s craft. Students in the program also enjoy close contact and mentorship with the faculty, who bring decades of experience and wisdom to the educational process.

History of School/ Department
Jacksonville University is situated on the eastern banks of the St. John’s River near the Atlantic Ocean and the Linda Berry Stein College of Fine Arts occupies nearly 100,000 square feet of physical space on that campus. The program has historic roots in the Jacksonville College of Music, which was founded in 1923. The college houses 2 schools: the School of Performing Arts and the School of Art and Design. The School of Performing Arts is home to the Department of Theatre, where we enjoy rich collaboration with the Departments of Music and Dance.
